2023 Winter Club Competition

As at Sunday 12th March, any players who have not yet registered for the Winter Club Competition will need to add their name to the WAITLIST to be advised if there is space for you to play (please include information on friend requests/division preference on the waitlist form).

We have very limited spaces left across all age groups . If there is a place for you, we will be in touch with a link to register.

For registered players wishing to trial for a Division 1 team, we are holding our grading on Sunday 26th March at Broadmeadow Stadium. If you did not select Division 1 as your preferred division upon registration and would like to trial, please let us know so we can include you on our lists.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in for your session, and bring your own ball and water bottle.

We are hoping to be able to announce all our team lists in the first week of April. Please note, we try our best to accommodate all requests where we can, however, it is nearly impossible to meet every request of nearly 600 players. Once team lists are announced we won’t be able to make any changes. Please also note, players are required to play their age group for Winter Club Competition, and we are not allowed to have players playing up in older teams to play with friends (Summer Comp is a lot more relaxed in this regard). If you have requested to play up an age group with friends, please let us know of any friends in your own age group you would like to play with so we can place you in the right team.

Competition Starts: Week beginning April 26
Semi Finals: Week beginning September 13
Grand Finals: Week beginning September 20
There will be no games or training scheduled between July 1 to July 16 because of School Holidays.

  • Cost of the competition for all players will be $275.00. (This fee is inclusive of all club and Newcastle Basketball competition fees). You are also required to have an active annual membership with Basketball NSW. You can check your annual membership by logging into member.basketball.net.au
  • All teams and players will be expected to play at all timeslots and across all venues. Venues may include Newcastle Basketball, Macquarie College & Hunter Sports High. The competition will be run on a Wednesday & Friday night between 4pm – 9.15pm. Each age group will be assigned a night for competition once team allocations and grading have been completed.
  • Each team will be allocated a 1-hour training session, which is likely to be Sunday afternoons at Newcastle Basketball Stadium (Broadmeadow) – to be confirmed closer to the season.
  • All players will be allocated to 1 team. Players cannot play in multiple teams or age groups. Players will be assigned to an age group per their date of birth.
  • For players wishing to trial for a Division 1 team, there will be a grading on Sunday 26th March (times listed above). For all our Division 2-7 teams, players will be paper graded based on special requests/division preference/playing experience. We will try our best to accommodate requests where we can, but these are not guaranteed.
  • All players must be in their full club uniform to play. This includes playing singlet (which is provided at each game) and club shorts (which can be purchased through Newcastle Basketball’s online shop which will be open shortly). Players are permitted to wear their 2022 club shorts but cannot wear any representative or Basketball NSW shorts or pieces of uniform.
  • Teams will be announced during the April school holidays prior to the season commencement.
  • We are seeking coaches across all age groups. If you are able to assist in coaching a team this year, please complete this form: COACH EOI
